Terms of Tourism #4



1.Occupancies : A percentage indicating the number of bed nights sold (compared number available) in a hotel, resort, motel or destination.
2.Icon : A facility or landmark which is visually synonymous with a destination.
3.Fulfillment : Servicing consumers and trade who request information as a result of advertising or promotional programs.
4.Discounted Fare : Negotiated air fare for convention, trade show, meeting, group and corperate travel.
5.Destination Marketing Organization : Local tourism marketing organizations, such as convention and visitors bureaus or chambers of commerce.
6.Frequency : The number of times an advertisement appears during a given campaign.
7.Chambers of Commerce : Typically, a chamber of commerce will specialize in local economic development that can be include tourism promotion.
8.Buyer : A member of the travel trade who reserves room blocks from accomodations or coodinates the development of a travel product.
9.Motorcoach : Deluxe equipment used by most tour operators in group tour programs. Amenities include reclining seats, bathrooms, air conditioning, good lighting and refreshment availability.
10.Rooms blocks : Several rooms held for a group.
